Game Drives Stay at Katara lodge A wide range of wildlife exists in the game reserves and in the national parks. Animals and nature are in harmony with each other.
The game drives in Queen Elizabeth Park provides perfect opportunities to see elephants, lions, buffalo's, waterbucks, Uganda Kobs, bush bucks, leopards, Topi. The park is an Eco system of rivers, swamps, plains and tropical forest. Home to an abundance of wildlife. Also the boat ride is an incredible experience to see lots of wildlife. Mihingo Lodge has their own game drive vehicle and offers game drives.
Lake Mburo is the only Park in Uganda offering Night Game Drives, this is the best way to see leopards, Mihingo Lodge has spotlights and can organise this activity. Mihingo Lodge is one of the few places in Africa where you can watch thick-tailed gallagos in their natural environment. These are nocturnal primate species that have become very used to the guests.

Hiking and walking safaris. Hiking is done in the mountains or hilly areas including Rwenzori Mountains, Mt Elgon and Mt Moroto.
Mihingo Lodge provides game walks starting at the Lodge with an official UWA Ranger Guide. This walk is passing the water hole (with all the animals). Recommended to do this walk in the morning or afternoon when it is not too hot. The walk takes between 2 and 3 hours. Kyaninga Lodge provides a fascinating backdrop for guided nature walks. The route around the top of the crater takes between two and three hours to complete and offers spectacular views of the lodge.
Ndali Lodge provides local guides for walks around the 1000 acre farm, to the Mahoma Water fall, and a boat for relaxing contemplation of a large variety of birds, butterflies and primates. Walks will take you around crater rims, past alcohol brewing in oil drums, through banana plantations, vanialla plantations, coffee terraces, plots of cassava, groundnuts, sorghum and millet.
Katara Lodge can arrange guided nature walks in the Maramagambo Forest.
From Mahogany Springs there are walks through various trails in the forest to see the waterfalls and other marvels, this must be pre booked.

Fishing Lake Victoria is the second largest lake in the world. Has a large family of fish. Fishing is also possible at Lake Mburo. |

Rafting and boat trips There are five levels of rapids of the Nile in an 8 seater-raft.
Mihingo Lodge offers boat trips on Lake Mburo this have to be booked in advance. The boat trip takes approximately 2 hours. Lake Mburo has lots of Hippo"s and Crocs and many bird species and with a lot of luck seeing a leopard from the boat. Katara Lodge can organize a launch cruise on the Kazinga channel in Queen Elizabeth Park. Ndali Lodge and Kyaninga lodge is offering a sturdy jetty in the lake, set in the most tranquil and secluded spot. From here guests can swim in the lake, soak up the sun or simply get away from it all. |
